Dwain Oren Potter, 81, died Thursday, April 6, 1995.
Mr. Potter was born in Omaha, Neb., and retired as a Department of Agriculture supervisor after 29 years of service. He owned and operated ``Doc'' Potter's Saw Sharpening business. He was a member and former Deacon of Wilroy Baptist Church; a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Khedive Shrine Temple and past president of the Suffolk Shrine Club; past president of the Izaak Walton League and former treasurer of the local Gideons Camp.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Clark Potter; a son, Theodore W. Potter and daughter-in-law, Betty Wills Potter of Newport News; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Potter Mitchell of Richmond, T. Wade Potter Jr. of Hampton, Kristen Noel Potter of Newport News; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles W. Potter of Tipp City, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. John W. Shannon of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Mrs. Wilbur Burke of Elida, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wilroy Baptist Church by the Rev. Carter Dey. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Remembrances, in lieu of flowers, may take the form of contributions to the Wilroy Baptist Church Airconditioning Building Fund, 306 Williams Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434 or the Hampton Roads Chapter of the American Alzheimer's Association, 20 Koger Executive Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
