Roy Lee Gardner, 70, died April 7, 1995, in a hospital.
Mr. Gardner, a native of Portsmouth, was retired from Shop 56 Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a pipefitter and had formerly worked for the Seaboard Railway as a carmen. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann Barker of Richmond; his mother, Pearl S. West of Hamlet, N.C.; a sister, Helen Roughton of Hamlet; a brother, Leonard Gardner of Chatanooga, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Damon E. Wyatt. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
