CLIFFORD A. NOTTINGHAM

Clifford A. Nottingham Jr., of Exmore, Va., died Friday, April 7, 1995, after a lengthy illness.

Born near Cherrystone, Va., he was the son of the late Clifford A. Nottingham Sr. and the late Nellie N. Nottingham. He attended Fork Union Military Academy and Smithdeal Massey Business College and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked in banking and railroading prior to acquiring an independent insurance and real estate agency from which he had retired. He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and a former member of the Exmore Rotary Club, the Community Volunteer Fire Company, Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club, Broadwater Masonic Lodge No. 71 AF&AM, and Exmore Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 683. He was past director of the Virginia United Methodist Hermitage Board and the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia D. Nottingham; a son, Dr. Clifford A. Nottingham III of Roanoke; two grandsons, Charles U. Nottingham and Louis B. Nottingham of Roanoke; two brothers, Roy U. Nottingham of Eastville and J. Curtis Nottingham of Williamsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, April 9, at 2 p.m. from the Franktown Cemetery, Franktown, Va. with the Rev. James H. Perry officiating. Memorials may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, Exmore, Va. 23350 or Community Volunteer Fire Company, Exmore, Va. 23350. Arrangements by the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore, Va.
