Max Television Co. of Virginia Beach has signed agreements to purchase TV stations in Dayton, Ohio, and Cape Girardeau, Mo., in two separate deals.
Max agreed to pay $40 million for WKEF-TV, the NBC affiliate in Dayton. That station is owned by a Citicorp affiliate.
Max hasn't disclosed the purchase price for KBSI-TV of Cape Girardeau, a Fox Broadcasting affiliate that Max is buying from Engles Communications Inc.
Max, whose principals are Charles McFadden, Aubrey E. Loving Jr., John A. Trinder and F. Gray Kiger Jr., owns Fox stations in Syracuse, N.Y., and Tri-Cities, Tenn. Max recently sold WTVZ-TV, a Fox affiliate in Norfolk, to Baltimore-based Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. for $48 million.
