HEALTH HELP AVAILABLE FOR THE POOR

Regarding ``No help for Americans?'' (letter, March 31): There is help! Those who can't afford health insurance and who meet certain income requirements may be eligible to receive free medical care under the Hill-Burton law.

Under this law, hospitals and other health facilities that received federal funding for construction and modernization must provide certain medical services at no charge to those who can't afford to pay. By calling the toll-free number listed below, one can find the closest hospital and income eligibility - 1-800-638-0742.
