JOHN L. WILLIAMS

John L. Williams, 86, of the 1300 block of Bethlehem St., died April 7, 1995, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

Mr. Williams was a native of Isle of Wight County, retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, was the son of the late Frank Williams and Clara Banks Williams Phillips and the widow of Estelle H. Williams. He was a member of First Baptist Church Mahan Street, Helping Hand Club, Willing Workers' Club and was a member of Masonic Lodge (NU)99.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jean Reid of Bronx, N.Y., and Mrs. Barbara Doughty of Suffolk; two sons, John Thomas Williams and Denell Williams, both of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Gray of Smithfield, Va.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alverta H. Warren of Suffolk; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Mrs. Susie Walker of Suffolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Mahan Street, Suffolk, by the Rev. Isaac E. Williams. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday. Arrangements by Crocker Funeral Home.
