Almeta Harrell Gay, 80, died April 7, 1995, in an Emporia, Va., nursing home. Mrs. Gay was a native of Gates County, N.C., and was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Gay; her parents, Jasper and Esther Eure Harrell; and a brother, Aaron Harrell. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Gay of Chesterfield and Patricia Carrier of Anderson, S.C.; two sons, Kenneth Gay of Arcadia, Calif., and Donald Gay of Chesterfield; two sisters, Mary Sue Harrell of Hayes and Allie H. Galtress of Sedley; two brothers, Jack Harrell and Ollen Harrell, both of Hayes; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin, by Rev. David L. Johnson. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today and suggest memorials be made to the Courtland Rescue Squad, Courtland, Va. 23837.
