REV. JAMES A. HERRING SR.

Rev. James Alexander Herring Sr., 90, of 222 Wood Rd., Taylors, SC, died Friday, April 7, 1995.

Born February 1, 1905, in Honan Provence, Taian, China.

He was a retired Southern Baptist Missionary to China and Tiawan and had served several churches in the Greenville area, among those being Augusta Road Baptist Church, and the First Baptist Church Moultie, GA, and Cullowhee Baptist Church and at one time was interim pastor at George's Creek Baptist Church in Easley.

Surviving are his wife, Nan Stephens Trammell Herring of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Sarah Alice) Edward of Taylors and Mrs. Greg (Nan Herring) Scott of Corvillis, Oregon; two sons, James A. Herring Jr. of Knoxville, TN, and Gordon Rhea Herring of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Mary Herring of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Lee Road Baptist Church. Burial will be in Springwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Dr.
