CAR GOING WRONG WAY DAMAGES 6 VEHICLES IN DOWNTOWN NORFOLK

A car traveling the wrong way on Waterside Drive struck at least six other vehicles Sunday afternoon, but the damages were minor and no one was hurt, police said.

Police spokesman Larry Hill said the incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Waterside Drive.

Police said they aren't sure how the red Chevrolet Corsica got into the wrong lanes, but the driver was later taken to a local mental-health facility. She stopped the car near Nauticus.

The driver's name was not released.
