William E. Garrison Jr., 79, died April 9, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Garrison was a native of Isle of Wight County and graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1939. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 41 years, retiring as a district soil conservationist. He was a member of Windsor Christian Church and its Board of Trustees. He formerly served as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent. He was a member of the Purdie Lodge (NU)170, AF & AM, an honorary director of the Farmers Bank, Windsor, a member of Isle of Wight Historical Architectural Zone Committee and a former member of Windsor Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary J. Garrison; his daughter, Patricia Gray Stanley; his son, William E. Garrison III; two granddaughters, Susan M. Montgomery and Meredith M. Garrison; and one grandson, William Carter Garrison, all of Richmond; his daughter-in-law, Mary Cunningham Garrison; and son-in-law, James Ellis Stanley Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Windsor Christian Church or Windsor Rescue Squad. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge.
