Forgive my indiscretion, but I have to bring up the issue of the Virginia Beach amphitheater again. Is it possible that the same people who make these wonderful projections of the future profitably of the amphitheater are the same ones who sold us on Nauticus, HOV express lanes, the Southeastern Expressway, riverboat gambling and MacArthur Mall?
Is it possible that Nauticus is a resounding success for its first year of operations and that the fault lies not with the lower attendance but with those who forecast higher numbers? As a well-meaning taxpayer, I have to wonder who is the more ignorant of reality - those who forecast these wild attendance numbers or those who want to believe them.
