Michael Collins (``Cut the National Endowment for the Arts,'' letter, April 2) suggests that the only people benefiting from the NEA are Hollywood multimillionaires.
Hollywood's multimillionaires are not asking for money for themselves. Hollywood is asking that the various agencies throughout the country continue to benefit from this all-important endeavor. Mr. Collins' misinterpretation of the intentions of well-intentioned people can have devastating effects on the masses.
Funding for the National Endowment for the Arts is needed because the money benefits needy recipients in this great country. Let's not throw it away. Heaven forbid!
