KATHERINE SCHLEGEL

Katherine ``Kitty'' Jones Schlegel, 76, a homemaker and community volunteer, died April 11, 1995 in Lake Forest Hospital.

She was a native of Tidewater, Va., and an alumna of the College of William and Mary. She was the wife of retired Navy Captain Rowland F. Schlegel and had been closely identified with Navy charitable and religious activities all of her adult life. Mrs. Schlegel was long active in the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society, holding its highest award, and in Navy Chapel affairs. She was a member of numerous Navy Officer Wives Clubs and a past president of the Hampton Roads, Va., and Great Lakes, Ill. organizations. She had resided in Libertyville, Ill., since Navy retirement in 1971. There she continued her interest in the Navy through her earlier channels, as well as the Navy League of the United States. She was also active in Allendale Service League and Woodlands Academy of Lake Forest.

Survivors include her husband, Rowland; two daughters, Kristina in Vernon Hills, Ill., and Kay in Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Rick in Virginia Beach; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at McMurrough Chapel, 1010 Park Place, Libertyville, Ill. Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
