Leon Robert Bowne Jr., 55, of the 1400 block of Shady Grove Lane, died April 12, 1995, in his residence.
A native of Portsmouth, he was sales manager at Lone Star Industries and Tarmac, Inc., where he was employed for 29 years. He was a Master Mason with the Vinton, Va., Lodge and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, 82nd Airborne from 1962 to 1964.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Galbreath Bowne; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Christopher and Christina Bowne; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Joseph Arzola; daughter, Kelly Bowne; father, Leon R. Bowne Sr.; mother and stepfather, Katherine Worrell and N.A. Nisbet; sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and David Hadley; a grandchild, Crystal Marie Bowne; a niece and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Burns. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
