Union Camp Corp. said first-quarter net income rose thirteen-fold from a year ago, logging its best quarter ever, as shipments and prices for its paper products rose. The Wayne, N.J.-based company operates a paper mill in Franklin. Union Camp's income rose to $105 million, or $1.50 a share, from $7.55 million, or 11 cents, a year ago. Revenue rose 29 percent to $1.02 billion from $790 million. Plant expansions increased total paper shipments 7 percent, to 910,000 tons from a year earlier. (Bloomberg Business News) by CNB
