The Bodie Island and Ocracoke Island visitor centers will open on Friday.
Because of budgetary constraints, however, National Park Service rangers will not staff these visitor centers this summer. Eastern National Park and Monument Association, a nonprofit group that operates bookstores for National Park Service sites, will provide staff at each visitor center to answer questions and provide information for the public.
The Hatteras Island Visitor Center, at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, is open year-round and will be staffed by National Park Service rangers. by CNB
