PORTSMOUTH - CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS - MONDAY

The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Monday:

Cavalier Manor Neighborhood: Request of Hattie G. Walker for a use permit to operate a day care center at 509 Truman Circle.

Denied, 6-1;

Clemons opposedHighland-Biltmore Neighborhood: Request of Gladys B. Hill to modify a use permit for a child day care center at 2605 Elliott Ave.

Approved, 7-0

Comprehensive Plan Amendment for Southside neighborhood: An amendment to the community facilities and land use plans of the city of Portsmouth recommending public/quasi-public uses in the Southside neighborhood. Additionally, related sections shall be revised.

Approved, 7-0

Southside Neighborhood: Rezoning application by the city of Portsmouth for property bound by Effingham Street, Green Street, Brighton Street (closed) and Lincoln Street from residential multi-family RM-60 to light industrial M-1-R.

Approved, 7-0

Code Amendment: An amendment to the zoning ordinance to change the expiration terms for use permits, section 40-106.1. Additional related sections of the ordinance will be revised to accomplish the purpose of the amendment.
