Gertrude Darden Whelden, 94, of Lancaster, died Wednesday.
She was the widow of Ford Hopkins Whelden.
Mrs. Wheldon was born in Zuni, Va., and lived in Suffolk, Va., until 1925. She was the daughter of the late John Morgan and Viola G. Whitley Darden. She was formerly of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., from 1925-1946, and of Freelon House, Norwich, Vt., from 1946-1987.
She is survived by four daughters, Gertrude W. Hull, Lancaster, Pa., Roxane W. Isbey of Chapel Hill, N.C., Bonnie W. Franks, Fort Morgan, Colo., and Darden W. Rozycki, wife of Dr. Alan Rozycki, Norwich, Vt.; one sister, Frances D. Musick, wife of John W. Musick, Williamsburg, Va.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a committal service at the Darden Mausoleum, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., on Monday, April 17, at 11 a.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Lancaster County Building Fund, P.O. Box 5179, Lancaster, Pa. 17606-5179.
