William Ellsworth Davis, 88, of 5345 Marian Lane, joined his Lord on Saturday, April 8, 1995, in Suffolk, Va.
Mr. Davis was a resident of Norfolk for over 80 years, and was a retired waterfront supervisor at the Norfolk Naval Supply Center after over 30 years of service. He was born in Newport News, Va., and was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Dean Davis and his beloved sister, Willard V. Jones.
Mr. Davis was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and served on the Administrative Board. He also was a member of The Wesleymen and their Board of Directors as well as teaching Sunday School for many years. He served as a Past Dad for Bethel No. 15, Order of Job's Daughters, and was a member of Ruth Masonic Lodge No. 89, Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies and Khedive Shrine Temple. He was an honorary member of Khedive Drum and Bugle Corps and was the former leader of the drum section.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Nancy Gardner Davis of Virginia Beach; two daughters, De Anna D. Usis and her husband, Felix of Virginia Beach and their children, Jennifer Chloe and Sarah Noel; and Nancy Carolyn D. Russell and her husband, William of Johnson City, Tenn. and their children, Elizabeth and Bryant.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 14, 1995 at 2 p.m. in Cox Funeral Home Chapel by Judge Hal J. Bonney Jr. and the Rev. William H. Acosta. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hampton Roads Chapter, (NU)20 Koger Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
