LONNIE SIMMONS

Lonnie Simmons, 70, of the 900 block of London Blvd., died April 11, 1995 in Portsmouth General Hospital.

Mr. Simmons was born in Ahoskie, N.C. He retired from Liverman Inc. after four years' service and was retired for 40 years. He was awarded the Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 bronze service stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was the widower of Jean Cuffee Simmons.

Survivors include a son, Welton Bruiller of Boston; and a brother, Herbert Simmons of Newport News. He was predeceased by six sisters, Beatrice Johnson, Claudie Fernell, Eunice Simmons, Thelma Britt, Doris Felton and Louise Brown, and a brother, Teossie Simmons.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home by the Rev. John Smith. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at 530 McLean St. at 12:15 p.m. for the processional to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
