BEER TRUCK OVERTURNS, CLOSES ROADWAY: An overturned beer truck closed a section of U.S. Route 258, near Franklin, for more than eight hours Thursday.
Southbound traffic was detoured onto South Quay Road until nearly 2 p.m., said Tammy Van Dame, Virginia State Police spokesman.
The driver, John A. Long, 47, of Elgin, S.C., was charged with reckless driving. Van Dame said the accident occurred at 5:30 a.m., when Long's tractor-trailer loaded with beer veered off the road into a ditch and overturned.

PAUL D. CAMP NAMES A DEAN: Paul D. Camp Community College has named Robert J. Grymes Jr. its new dean of instruction and student development.
Grymes has been acting dean since September. He had been dean of instruction and student services at Tidewater Community College since 1981. Before that, he was founding dean of the Western campus and director of continuing education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond. by CNB
