CITY OFFICIALS SEEK PHOTOS OF CAR FIRE, IDENTITY OF RESCUER

The Fire Department is looking for anyone with photos or videotape of a car fire that occurred about 11 a.m. Friday in front of the Rack & Sack and Pet Warehouse stores in the 4000 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard.

They also are looking for a bystander who helped rescue a 5-year-old boy from the burning car.

Battalion Chief Chase Sergeant said the boy was left alone in the car. He apparently started the fire with a lighter, but an unidentified passer-by rescued him before he was injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant at 427-5616 or Investigator Mike Mullins at 427-4228.
