Players from Medina, N.Y., traveled to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in hopes of finding some favorable spring weather.
What they got was a warm but overcast day with high winds that wreaked havoc on Medina's power hitters. The higher they hit the ball, the faster the wind sent it straight to the ground.
But Medina still managed to take a 4-0 lead after two innings.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's Larry Thacker beat the wind and Medina for a two-run double and two-run homer to key a 12-run fourth in the Saints' 14-5 triumph. ILLUSTRATION: Photos by Mike Kestner
