William H. ``Boy'' Newton Jr. of the 900 block of Douglas Ave., a retired rigger and custodian, died April 13, 1995, in his home in Portsmouth.
Mr. Newton was born in Norfolk County. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and the Portsmouth public school system, was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Temple Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice S. Newton; a daughter, Doreen Newton-Douglas of Portsmouth; a son, William D. Newton of Chesapeake; two sisters, Estelle Brown and LuEthel Fennell, both of Chesapeake; one grandchild, William J. Douglas of Portsmouth; eight brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and an aunt, Maggie Mason of Portsmouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Hermon Baptist Temple Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. C.V. Russell Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Monday.
