E. GLADYS ELLIS

E. Gladys Ellis, of Oaklette Drive, a retired teacher and counselor, died April 14, 1995, in Norfolk.

Mrs. Ellis was born in Norfolk and lived in the area all of her life. She retired after more than 40 years from Norfolk Public Schools at Ruffner Junior High School and Maury High School. She was a member of St. Brides Episcopal Church, its Altar Guild, Episcopal Women of the church and taught Women's Bible Class for several years. She was a member of the national, state and local education associations and was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College.

Survivors include a sister, Anne Ellis Pierce of Virginia Beach; two brothers, H. Gray Ellis of Covington, Va., and John L. Ellis of Virginia Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Brides Episcopal Church by Rev. Father Michael J. Godderz. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the Living Memorial of St. Brides Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 13039, Chesapeake, Va. 23325.
