SHCM (SW) Joseph M. Sinong Jr., U.S. Navy, Ret., of Huntington Estates, died April 15, 1995, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Sinong was born in Baguio City, Philippines, and was a Catholic. He retired April 15, 1994. He served 27 years in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association (Branch 99).
Survivors include his wife, Lillian M. Sinong; two daughters, Crystal J. Sinong and Juana M. Japson-Ruiz; three sons, James T. Sinong, Joffrey T. Sinong and Mark P. Sinong, all of Virginia Beach; his father, Modesto Sinong of Hawaii; seven sisters; and one brother of Baguio City, Philippines.
A funeral mass in his honor and to glorify God will be conducted on Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, by Father James Parke. Burial with full military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Friends may join the family at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
