Herschall Rountree Stallings, 73, of Route 1, died Sunday, April 16, 1995, in Chowan Hospital following a sudden illness.
Mr. Stallings was born in Gates County. The son of the late Asa and Mrs. Pastora Rountree Stallings, he was a retired truck driver and a member of Warwick Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Bertha Mae Stallings; one son, Robert D. Stallings of Hobbsville; three sisters, Louise Parker and Hazel Hofler, both of Sunbury, and Mae Stallings of Portsmouth; one brother, James Edward Stallings of Hobbsville; four grandchildren, Wilbur Stallings Jr., Ronald Stallings, Robert Stallings Jr. and Renee Stallings; two great-grandchildren, Melinda Stallings and Jessica Stallings.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, by the Rev. Tom Hupp and the Rev. Jon Reece. Burial will follow in the Stallings Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
