Donald L. Simmons, formerly of Norfolk, died on Feb. 20, 1995 at a hospital in McAllen, Texas.
Donald L. Simmons retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and retired as maintenance director of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after 17 years of service.
Survivors include wife, Mary A. Simmons; one son, Tommy W. Cain, both of Norfolk; and mother, Nellie D. Simmons of San Juan, Texas; five brothers; four sisters; and seven grandchildren.
A pier-side memorial service will be held at the Norfolk Naval Base by the USS Comte de Grasse at Pier 24 on Thursday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eastern Virginia Medical School, American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
