Virginia Lee Porter, 78, of the 300 block of Broad St., died April 16, 1995, in Ahoskie, N.C.
Mrs. Porter, a native of Gates County, N.C., was the widow of Roger Thomas Porter. She was a member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church and the Loyal Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Taylor English of Chesapeake and Mary Porter Bonsack of Aulander, N.C.; two sisters, Bertha Lee Joyner of Suffolk and Margaret Ann Loyd of Edenton, N.C.; two brothers, Earl C. Taylor of Sunbury, N.C. and Archie L. Taylor of Chesapeake; a stepdaughter, June Porter Hubbard of Portsmouth; a stepson, the Rev. Curtis T. Porter of Missouri; five grandchildren, Raymond L. English, Teresa B. Jahnke, Geraldine B. Westray, Sheryl B. Pietrangelom, Katherine E. English; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cottage Place United Methodist Church by the Rev. James D. Thomas. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home.
