CUSTER L. SPIERS

Custer L. Spiers, 77, a retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer, died April 17, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Spiers was born in Reams, Va., and also was retired from Norshipco. He was the widower of Celeste Barnes Spiers and a member of Centerville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Thompson, Patricia Mamrot and Peggy Froehlich, all of Chesapeake; a son, Creston L. Spiers of Commerce, Ga.; two sisters, Lucy West of Hopewell, Va., and Ruth Spiers of Virginia Beach; a brother, Robert Spiers of Hopewell; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, by the Rev. Tom Mercer. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
