MSGT Willie J. Harris, 68, of the 200 block of Logan Drive, died April 17, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., he was retired from the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He was also retired as a route salesman for Mrs. Smith's Pie Co., Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Harris; two daughters, Nana Simon of Portsmouth and Cheryl and her husband, Timothy Tant of Portsmouth; two sons, William J. Harris of Moyock, N.C. and Donald and his wife, Terri Harris of Portsmouth; two sisters, Sonja Gray of Chesapeake and Frances Luna of Florida; and nine very special grandchildren, Allen, Jason, Joshua, Jeffrey, Jesse, David, Erica, Melissa and Shannon.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
