CARL W. COSTA GENERAL MANAGER OF REGGIE'S BRITISH PUB

Carl W. Costa is general manager of Reggie's British Pub at Waterside, a position he has held since coming to Norfolk from Atlanta in 1987.

Costa recently was certified as a food-service management professional by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate an exceptional level of experience, knowledge and leadership with the food-service industry.

Since coming to Norfolk, Costa has held many positions. He has served as president and treasurer of the Waterside Merchants' Association; he has been president and a board member of the Virginia Hospitality and Tourism Association, Norfolk restaurant chapter; he has been a board member of the Downtown Norfolk Council Restaurant Division, and a board member of the Festevents British and Irish Festival Committee.

What brought you to Norfolk: Was transferred from the Reggie's Pub in Atlanta to run the one in Waterside.

Favorite magazine: Sports Illustrated.

If you could trade places for just one day with anyone in the world, who would it be and why? Donald Trump, so I could learn his business savvy and expertise in real estate.

Biggest accomplishment: Operating a successful downtown Norfolk restaurant on a daily basis.

Most embarrassing moment: Caught in back yard with girlfriend by mother, who stated: ``There is a time and place for everything, and this is neither the time nor the place.''

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My impatience.

Perfect way to spend the day: A day free of responsibilities where I can fly to Texas Stadium and watch the Dallas Cowboys against the Washington Redskins.

Favorite vacation spot: Bahamas.

Pet peeve: Illogical answers to logical questions and illogical actions in logical situations.

First job: Newspaper boy.

Worst job: Ditch digger for utility company.

Hobbies: Crossword puzzles, golf, people-watching, computers.

Favorite restaurant: After Reggie's, The Thirsty Camel.

What do you like most about Norfolk? Festevents, all the downtown events and the TGIF series.
