three-week run at the Wells Theater in downtown Norfolk. The
Virginia Stage Company production consists entirely of letters read
back and forth between the show's two characters, would-be lovers
Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Wherever it is
performed, ``Love Letters'' draws large audiences. Maybe it's the
quality of Gurney's writing, or that the show usually features
celebrity casts - the case in Norfolk. We think it also might have
something to do with the idea of old-fashioned love letters, a
delightfully romantic notion to ponder in spring. Our appetites
whetted, we'd like to share some real love letters, too. Your love
letters. Mail a photocopy of your love letter to: LOVE LETTERS, The
Virginian-Pilot, Entertainment Team, 150 West Brambleton Ave.,
Norfolk, VA 23510. Or, fax it to 446-2963. Entries must include a
contact name, with daytime phone number. Deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday,
April 25.
A selection of the best letters will be printed in The Daily
Break in early May, with a pair of ``Love Letters'' tickets awarded
per published entry. Top prize also will receive two tickets to a
backstage party with the stars.
