EFFIE P. CROSS

Effie Lee Pittman Cross, 65, of the 900 block of Lake Kennedy Drive, died April 16, 1995, in Obici Hospital.

A native of Tarboro, N.C., Mrs. Cross was the daughter of the late Sterling Pittman and Cora Parker and the widow of George Cross Sr. She was a member of Greater Sweet Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church in Suffolk, Lottie Jordan Missionary Circle, Missionary Choir, Missionary, Usher Board and Pastor's Aid.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce E. Ford and Patricia A. Wilson, both of Suffolk; three sons, George E. Cross Jr. of Suffolk, Ronnie L. Cross of Charlotte, N.C., and Christopher C. Cross of Fayetteville, N.C.; four sisters, Claretha Thorne of Norfolk, Pastor Sarah Hill of Suffolk, Verna Mayo and Helen Mayo, both of Baltimore; four brothers, Henry Mayo of Connecticut, Clarence Mayo of Norfolk, Thomas Mayo of Portsmouth and Calvin Mayo of Baltimore; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; three daughters-in-law; several sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and devoted friends, Ms. Willie M. Davis, Elder Vernon and Evangelist Ruby Pope.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church by Dr. Madison G. Copeland. Burial will be in the Cross Family Cemetery, Whaleyville. The body will be placed in church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge.
