LANGLEY TO HOST TWIN LATE MODEL FEATURES

Late Model Stock drivers will have two opportunities Saturday night to crack Phil Warren's dominance at Langley Speedway in Hampton. A pair of 75-lap features top a program that includes racing in the other four regular divisions.

Warren, the defending Late Model champion, has won all three events in his division so far this season to open a 26-point lead over Buddy Dozier in the standings.

Roger Bress is off to a similarly fast start in the Grand Stock division, where he will be bidding for his fourth consecutive victory in a 40-lapper. He holds a six-point lead over Jim Kenney in the standings.

Chris Weatherford and Jimmy Adkins are tied for the points lead in the Mini-Stock division, with Kevin Harrison only four points behind.

Tod Carson holds a two-point lead over Kevin Adams in Limited Stock, and Corey Fogleman leads Gene Smith by 12 points in Pure Stock.

Gates will open at 2 p.m. Saturday. Qualifying is scheduled for 5 and racing begins at 7.

AT SOUTHAMPTON: Richard Holmes will try to set a track record for most consecutive victories in the Limited Stock division at the Capron dirt track Saturday night.

Other events include a 40-lap late Model feature, a 30-lap Sportsman feature, a 25-lap Mini Stock feature and 20-lap Hobby feature.

Thomas Chappell of Elizabeth City won the Mini-Stock feature. Dave Winterburn was second and Stanley Hassell third.

Winners in the Bombers division were Todd Smith, Danny Powell, and Dennis Barnes.

Racing is scheduled each Friday night through August with the exception of June 9.
