HUGH PETE BRITTON SR.

Hugh Pete Britton Sr., 76, of the 100 block of Oliver St., died April 20, 1995.

A native of Pendleton, N.C., he was a son of the late Starkey Sharpe and Katie Tyner Britton. Mr. Britton was a yard conductor for the N & W Railroad for 34 years and retired in 1979. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Oliver Britton; a daughter, Page B. Williams of Suffolk; a son, Hugh Pete Britton Jr. of Williamsburg; two sisters, Virginia Ward of Suffolk and Eugenia Smith of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Oliver Warren Williams Jr. of Columbia, S.C., Martha Page Williams of Suffolk and Hugh Pete Britton III of Williamsburg.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Cedar Hill Cemetery by Dr. Merle Correll. The family will be at the home. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
