Arletha R. Hazelwood, 76, of the 6300 block of Chesapeake Blvd., a retired clerk, died April 18, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Born in Blackstone, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lelia Bland and Ollie Hazelwood. She was a retired clerk of the Social Service Department of New York City after 20 years and was a former member of Queen Street Baptist Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Emma L. Hazelwood of Norfolk and Irma Mathews of New York; two nieces, Lana Hazelwood and Bessie Bodie of Alexandria, Va.; two nephews, Freddie Purvis and Stephan Purvis, both of Norfolk; and seven great-nieces. She was predeceased by her friend of many years, Harold Mathews of Bronx, N.Y.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Monday in Hale Funeral Home by the Rev. Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will assemble at her residence.
