Homicide investigators and a forensic anthropologist have determined that the skeleton found near Owl's Creek Golf Course on Wednesday is that of a woman in her mid-20s to mid-30s and has been there three to six years.
Dr. Douglas Ubelaker, a forensic anthropologist from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, on Friday helped police examine the remains, police spokesman Lou Thurston said.
Because of the skeleton's condition, no other information was available.
Remnants of what appeared to be decayed clothes also were discovered, Thurston said.
The remains were removed from the site Friday for further study by Ubelaker and the medical examiner, Thurston said.
