Norfolk State University's art department chairman has been named to the city's School Board.
The NSU professor, Roderic A. Taylor, was chosen by City Council this week to take Jessie Lee Jr.'s seat. Lee stepped down as chairman in February.
Taylor, 63, who specializes in sculpture, holds bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in art education. He also holds a master's in fine arts.
He has served on numerous committees, including Chesapeake's Fine Arts Commission and Art Selection Committee.
