DEBORAH S. DIXON

Deborah Alice Sawyer Dixon, 82, of the 201 South Richard St., Bedford, PA, died Friday, April 21, 1995, at the residence of her son, Rufus in Norfolk, VA.

Mrs. Dixon was born in Bath, N.C. She was the wife of the late William Earl Dixon for 32 years, married June 30, 1933, in Washington, N.C., the daughter of the late James and Mary Sawyer, and the sister of the late Naomi Smith.

Mrs. Dixon was retired from the W.T. Grant Co. as a manager in Chesapeake, VA. and was a member of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ in Chesapeake. She was also a long-time member of the Jarvisburg Church of Christ in Jarvisburg, N.C., a life-long Sunday School teacher and youth leader, and attended Mount Union United Methodist Church in Lovely, PA. from 1990 until 1994, when she returned to Norfolk to live with her son for medical treatment.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Dixon Cahoon of Harbinger, N.C., and Daphne Dixon Ollman of Alum Bank, PA. and Reston, VA; one son, Rufus Hilton Dixon of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, John B. Sawyer of Powells Point, N.C., and William L. Sawyer of Mount Holly N.C.; five grandsons and also a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at Twiford Colonial Chapel, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, Monday, April 24, 1995 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Rupert Wallace. A graveside service will be held at Jarvisburg Church of Christ Cemetery at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at Twiford Colonial Chapel Sunday afternoon 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and other times at the residence of her son, 3523 Wellington Street, Norfolk, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sentara Hospice Program, Norfolk, VA 23502.
