CRIME LINE

Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:

CHESAPEAKE

Two men are being sought for rape and robbery. Both had been arrested and released on bond, but failed to appear in court for trial.

Warrants have been issued for their arrests and if apprehended they will not be released on bond again.

Thomas Henry Bradford, 20, is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 179 pounds.

Alonzo Herbert Cortez, 28, is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 147 pounds.

PORTSMOUTH

On March 15, the Star Dust Video Store at 3925 Twin Pines Road was set on fire.

A store video camera recorded the actions of the arsonist and shows the person making several attempts to set the fire by dropping a burning piece of paper through the mail drop-box slot.

After about three attempts, the suspect was successful in starting the fire inside the store.

The suspect is described as a young black man, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, about 165 pounds and wearing black pants and a black jacket with white striped sleeves.

NORFOLK

On Thursday, Dec. 29, at 7:30 p.m., two men entered the 7-Eleven in the 3800 block of Granby Street. One man began beating and kicking an elderly cashier while the other man stole various items from the store.

Photographs were taken of the robbers.

The first suspect is described as black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a tan hooded jacket, a white-collared shirt with blue horizontal stripes, blue jeans and white tennis shoes with black soles.

The second suspect is described as black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 170 pounds.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded jacket with yellow on the sleeves and yellow and white on the back of the jacket and black pants.

Several witnesses were in the store but left before police arrived.

Between Jan. 29 and Feb. 7, thieves broke into a home in the 7800 block of Merrit Street.

They stole a woman's fur coat, a brown male beaver coat and a man's leather jacket. Names were engraved in the lining.

The coats were valued at more than $13,000.

VIRGINIA BEACH

On Tuesday, April 19, about 3 a.m., the body of Robert A. McFarland, 31, was discovered in the 5800 block of East Hastings Arch in the Lake Edward Section.

The body was found by a passer-by on his way to work.

McFarland had been shot in the head.

HAMPTON

George S. Davalos, 21, is wanted for burglary, grand larceny and credit card fraud.

Davalos is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds.

Johnathan Warner, 26, who is also known as Johnathan Thompson, is wanted for robbery, abduction, burglary and grand larceny.

Warner is described as black, 6 feet tall and 190 pounds. by CNB
