Mr. Hernandez was a native of Norfolk, Virginia. He was a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk.

Survivors include a son, Joseph W. Hernandez, III of Norfolk; his parents, Lenora F. Hernandez; and Joseph W. Hernandez of Tampa, Fla.; seven sisters, Elizabeth Baker of Norfolk, Belinda Parkins of Powhatan, Va., Lenora McKee of Bumpass, Va., Mary E. Rodriguez of Tampa, Fla., Valerie McGinty of Little Rock, Ark., Ceceila Breeden of Kansas City, Mo., Rebecca Annarino of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Michael J. Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas, Steven A. Hernandez of Norfolk, Va., Jon C. Hernandez of Norfolk, Va

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday April 26, 1995, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk, Va., by Father Joseph P. Lehman. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.
