On May 9 at the Nags Head Golf Links, The Currituck Club - a golf course and residential community under construction on the Currituck Outer Banks - will host the first annual Currituck Club Golf Classic.
All proceeds will benefit the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce building fund. The tournament will be a Superball/Captain's Choice format and will begin at 1 p.m.
The Currituck Club recently received county approval for the development, which includes an 18-hole championship links-style golf course designed by the world-renowned architect Rees Jones.
Jones described the site as ``. . . one of the greatest pieces of golf course property out there today, especially on the East Coast.'' The project also calls for 430 home sites, up to 70 cluster homes, 104 golf villas and an 80-room inn.
