REPUBLICAN AGENDA NOT ANTI-WOMEN

Regarding your coverage April 10 of the march on Washington by women's groups and others opposed to the Republicans' legislative agenda: The groups marching evidently did the usual ``broad-brush'' painting of anything conservative as being unfriendly to women. They tried to portray House Speaker Newt Gingrich as an advocate of violence toward women and of needless mastectomies. The coverage was exactly what the liberals wanted: portrayal of the event on their own terms.

The event (and to some extent your prominent, favorable coverage of it) was a distortion of the Republicans' agenda, which is not anti-female at all. Those on the left are attempting (unsuccessfully) to speak for all women and to paint all who disagree as a danger to the country.

The Contract With America will bring America closer to freedom.
