VERNON W. ARMISTEAD

Vernon W. Armistead, 70, of Cobbs Creek, died Tuesday, April 25, 1995.

He was a native of Mathews County and a member of the Church of Francis DeSales. He had retired from the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station after 33 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Florence T. Armistead; a daughter, Judith D. Scholz of Chamblee, Ga.; two sons, Richard D. Armistead of Duluth, Ga., and Michael S. Armistead of Mililani, Hawaii; two sisters, Alvina Downs of Norfolk and Ruby Grubb of Ark, Va.; a brother, Wilson Armistead of Hudgis; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Francis DeSales, Mathews. Burial will follow in the Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews.
