Shirley Marie Wheeler Gray, 68, of the 300 block of Deal Dr., died April 26, 1995, in her home.
Mrs. Gray, a native of Norfolk, was retired from the Oasis Social Ministry as assistant director after 15 years' service. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court 1818. She was a member of the Lupus Foundation; Mothers Against Drunk Driving; American Heart Assoc.; and the American Diabetes Assoc. She was the daughter of the late Emily Bell Harrell Wheeler and William Lesly Wheeler formerly of South Norfolk.
Survivors include her husband Joseph G. ``Joe'' Gray; three daughters, Connie Marie Gray Curley of Norfolk; Cheryl Ann Gray May of Athens, Ala.; Marianne Gray Michalski of Chesapeake; a son, Timothy Gray of Clemson, S.C.; and nine grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Portsmouth Catholic Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Foster Funeral Home. The family will be at her daughter's home, 4004 San Salvador Dr., Chesapeake. Memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Virginia Lupus Foundation and/or the American Diabetes Assoc., Virginia Affiliate; all donations dedicated to research.
