Dorothy Elizabeth Hodges Dowling, 73, of the first block of Gillis Road, a retired bookkeeper, died April 26, 1995, in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Dowling was born in Norfolk. She was a member of Cradock Baptist Church, Women of the Moose and a past member of the Retired Officers Wives Society.
Survivors include her husband, Henry A. Dowling of Chesapeake; two daughters, Nancy Dowling Wolfford of Lafargeville, N.Y., and Gene Rimer of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mildred Hodges Rowland of Richmond; a brother, O. Lynn Swensen of Millington, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon today at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Hwy. Chapel, by Dr. David R. Denny, the Rev. Scott M. Rimer and Dr. Willis Dowling. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Haven Children's Home.
