RUFUS GRANT

Rufus Grant, 67, of the 3600 block of Gateway Drive, Apt. 1-C, a retired machinist, died April 26, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.

Mr. Grant was born in Portsmouth. He retired from Intercoastal Steel Company after 25 years, was a member of Celestial Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Alfreda Grant of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Angela M. Wescott of Norfolk, Faye Grant-Wescott of Portsmouth and Paulette M. Howell of Chesapeake; five stepdaughters; a son, Anthony Grant of Atlanta, Ga.; six sisters, Rev. Ann J. Fortineau and Peola M. Bright, both of Portsmouth, Elizabeth G. Harris of Norfolk, Elsie G. Murphy of Chesapeake, Audrey M. Webb of Newport News and Marilyn G. Williams of Leesburg, Va.; four brothers, Roscoe Grant and George Grant Sr., both of Portsmouth, L. David Grant of Owensboro, Ky., and Harvey Grant Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; three sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; and two dedicated and devoted friends, Sallie Clark and Pauline Little.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Celestial Baptist Church by the Rev. Leon J. Boone. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Sunday. The family will be at the home of George and Betty Grant, 931 Douglas Ave., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
