RE-ELECTION PREDICTION

A mob of presidential candidates is already upon us like a pack of vicious mongrels. Leading the pack are the mean-spirited nabobs of negativism Phil ``Grim'' and Bob ``Doleful.''

All the Republican candidates are desperately trying to out-do one another in pandering to the special interests of the rich (for campaign money) and the radical right (for fanatical activists). In doing so, they are abandoning the mainstream to Bill Clinton.

Polls consistently show that an overwhelming majority of Americans agree with the president on the issues that matter to middle-class working people: a woman's right to choose abortion, responsible gun control, a livable minimum wage, accessible college-loan programs, protecting the environment and reducing the budget deficit by making government work more efficiently (rather than just slashing it). These issues are winners for Clinton.

As the campaign continues, it will become increasingly clear that Bill Clinton represents the best interests of most Americans. Let me be the first to predict his re-election.
