A 29-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized in serious condition Sunday morning after a head-on collision with a pickup truck, police said.
The motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld until his family is notified, pulled out of Creeds Elementary School in the 900 block of Princess Anne Road just after 8:30 a.m., police spokesman Mike Carey said. Moments later, the motorcyclist lost control and swerved into the opposite lane, where the pickup hit him head-on.
The man was trapped under the pickup until rescue crews freed him, and was flown by air ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The pickup truck driver, Ravan B. Kelly, 31, of the 500 block of Old Post Road, was wearing a seatbelt and wasn't injured.
No charges have been filed, Carey said.
